A fire caused by children playing with fireworks burned approximately four acres of a field just northeast of Friona along Cemetery Road on Sunday evening. The fire was contained by the Friona Volunteer Fire Department and quick thinking Rex Wells who used his tractor to cut a break around the fire.

Looks like plenty of food will be available at Reeve Lake Saturday for the community's 4th of July celebration. Noon Lions will be cooking hamburgers (no fries this time), the firemen will be selling sausage wraps, there will be Frito pie, and more. (more...)

Lost wedding ring found after 65 years

On June 1, 1926, G.B. “Pete” Buske and Lila Myrl Crow were united in holy matrimony. To commemorate the occasion Pete had ‘MB 1926’ engraved inside the ring he gave his lovely bride. (more...)
