Council approves rate increases

The Friona city council met in regular session Monday November 14 with all members present. Mayor Rick presided.

City water rates and sewer rate increases were approved. The water meter deposit is $155.00. Water rates will increase 10 % with an additional increase of $0.25 cents per 1,000 gallons over 21,000 gallons. Sewer rates will increase $2.00 per month.

There were 336 calls for service including police, EMS, and fire department. There were 10 arrests for no driver license and so far in 2016 there have been 18 juvenile arrest compared to only three in 2015.

A variance to allow the Credit Union to build a fence around their dumpster location was approved. Cris Ingram was re-appointed to the FSA board.

The council went into executive session at 7:02 p.m. to discuss personnel items relating to Librarian Darla Bracken. On returning to regular session the council approved Darla’s vacation/sick days request. For more information about the city business see the Mayor’s Minutes on page two.

The next meeting of the city council will be Monday December 12. All council meetings are open to the public.
