Victory Family Worship Center pastor Robert Kerby says the church still has lots of new winter coats left after their Coats for Kids event. He said families that would like a warm coat for their children can come by the church office at 914 Main St. during business hours Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday for a free coat. They have all sizes available.

Last week we gave info of a love fund at Interbank for 7-year-old Jazlynn Simein. Her great grandmother Emma Davila said her heart surgery went well. They put stents in her heart and she has been released from the hospital. She will remain in the Dallas area to recover until she has her brain surgery in 6-8 months. The love fund is available and donations are needed to help with the family’s expenses.

I want to say a special thanks to the ladies in the Friends of the Friona Library for the veterans breakfast last Friday. Not a complicated menu. Scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, coffee and orange juice. All just like mom used to make.

Once again the school district held a very inspiring Veterans Day program at the high school. The 5th grade choir, high school choir, high school band, and school officials are to be praised for their annual Veterans Day program. The FCCLA students also who provided cake and refreshments after the program. We have included several photos of the day in this Star. Thank you all very much.

It was noted by several of us that the number of veterans participating seems to get smaller each year. Thank you veterans for your service and for attending the breakfast and the program.
