The 1964 Friona Squaws had a 35-0 record and won the state basketball championship. Friday night that team was honored and recognized during halftime of the Chiefs game. Those able to attend were, l-r, Rose Ann Greeson Ray, Teto Jennings Milner, Carolyn Herring Carson, Margaret Duggins, wife of the late Coach Baker Duggins, Janet Rushing Phipps, Linda Jo Davis Harding, Glenda McClellan Miller, and Wessie Hand.

Great weather all week. Temperatures in the 70s and touched 80 one day. It is still February too and don't forget February has 29 days in this leap year. Daylight Saving Time begins Sunday March 13 when we spring forward an hour. (more...)

Squaw '64 state champs recognized

In 1964 the Friona Squaws basketball team, coached by the late Baker Duggins, went 35-0 and won the state championship. In a three year stretch the Squaws won 3rd, 1st, 2nd at the state tournament. (more...)
