Star Football Contest Begins September 1st
After a one-year layoff the Friona Star Football Contest returns. We have revised the old format, increased the weekly prize money, and reduced the number of games to make the new contest more exciting and competitive.
The first contest entry will be in the Thursday September 1 issue of the Star. A contest entry blank will also be posted on our website, frionaonline.com, every Wednesday evening.
Here are the basics: Contest will run 10 weeks with 12 games each week including high school, college, and pro. Two tie-breakers each week. First place prize $35.00. Second place $25.00. A $100.00 grand prize at the end to the contestant with the most points. In case of a tie at the end the prize money will be split.
Entries are due by 4:00 p.m. each Friday. Entries sent U.S. mail should be postmarked by 4:00 p.m. Friday. Drop off entries in the red mailbox at the Star office or Dorothy’s Beauty Shop in Bovina before 4:00 p.m. Friday. Entries can be faxed to 806-250-5127. No emails accepted. All entries must be on the official entry blank form. Copies of the form are acceptable.
We will compute the winners each week and keep up with individual scores during the contest to determine the grand prize winner. Winners will be listed in the newspaper each week and posted on our Friona Star Facebook page.
