Seventy-six animals shown at local show

The 2017 Friona Livestock Show is now in the history books as a success. Seventy-six goats, sheep and swine were shown in twenty-two classes as rain and sleet fell outside the Friona Community Center on Sunday afternoon.

The show began at 1:30 p.m. with the first class of sheep being judged by event judge Brandon Freel. Freel is the Agriculture teacher at Denver City.

Following are the winners in each class:

Goats:

Class 1-1st Peyton Schueler; 2nd Brice Jeter; 3rd Tim Ally; 4th Stef Ally; 5th Katelynn Ortega.

Class 2-1st Seth Murphree; 2nd Mason Schueler; 3rd Dieter Ally; 4th Tim Ally; 5th Wyatt Winningham.

Class 3-1st AJ London; 2nd Anthony Abarca; 3rd Dieter Ally; 4th Stef Ally.

Class 4-1st Seth Murphree; 2nd Anthony Abarca; 3rd AJ London; 4th Kaden Jeter; 5th Samuel Frye.

Class 5-1st Quay Schueler; 2nd Gabriel Abarca

Seth Murphree won Goat Grand Champion and Peyton Schueler took home Goat Reserve Grand Champion. Earning Showmanship awards were Gabriel Abarca Senior Showmanship and Kaden Jeter Junior Showmanship.

Medium Wool Breed Champion was Anthony Abarca and Reserve Breed Champion was Rogelio Palacios.

Anthony Abarca won Grand Champion Lamb and Erica Barrera showed the Reserve Champion Lamb. Sheep Showmanship awards went to Erica Barrera Senior Showmanship and Tim Ally Junior Showmanship.

Aubree Bunker showed the Grand Champion Swine and Hadley White had the Reserve Champion Swine. Junior Swine Showmanship awards were given to Bryce Bunker and Charlie Herring.

Pee Wee Goats were shown by Jace Jarecki, Jesalyn Jarecki, Kayl Schueler and Harley London.

Pee Wee Swine were shown by Lilly Abarca, Ella McFarland, Stevie Jill Herring, Ivy Schueler, and Peyton McFarland.
