Calling all 2017-18 Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors, meet the organizers of the 2017 Miss Friona Pageant at the depot on Saturday, April 22 at noon. Bring your make-up bag and essentials for a fun time. No commitment at this time to sign up for Miss Friona. They will have a make-up specialist on hand for beauty tips. Lunch will be provided. Saturday is shaping up to be a VERY busy Earth Day.

The day begins with the cleanup at the Parmer County Memorial Cemetery west of Friona at 9 a.m. If you are going to help with the cleanup bring your rakes, weedeaters, etc.

If you want to have your athlete screened, you can head over to Muleshoe for Operation Screen Your Athlete cardiac screening at the Muleshoe Area Medical Center at 708 S. 1st Street from 12-4 p. m.

Cargill will have their Service Dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Hereford Country Club to honor their employees.

Wheeww! That makes for a full day.

The Friends of the Library will have their annual meeting on Sunday, April 23 at 2 p.m. at the Redeemer Center, 1305 Virginia. They will be drawing for the winners of the Literary Baskets. If you haven’t bought your tickets, stop by the library. Tickets are $1 each.

Friona Kids Inc. and Parmer County Babe Ruth baseball games begin on Monday, April 24.

Early voting begins Monday, April 24. There are four candidates running for the Friona Independent School District Board of Trustees. Get out and vote for Maria Monreal Garcia, Corbin Riethmayer, Wade Schueler or Jamie Lewellen.

If you have a collection of aluminum cans that are just collecting dust, how about donating them to the 2017 FHS Senior Class. The trailer is located at 102 E. 8th Street next to the Police/Fire Stations. The proceeds go to benefit the Alcohol/Drug Free Senior All-Night Party after graduation.

Get your little black dress out and make plans to attend the Spring Tea Fashion Show hosted by the Friona Chamber of Commerce on Sunday, May 7 at 2 p.m. at Milk House Market. Bring your favorite dessert.

Bluebonnet Home Health has started offering Aging and Wellness Workshops at Friona Heritage Estates in the day room. Friona EMS, Fire Department and Police Department were called to a residence in the 900 block of Main Street on Tuesday evening. Marcus Orozco, 18, had been trapped under his vehicle after the jack he was using gave way. His father was there and managed to pull him out from under the vehicle. Orozco was transported to Parmer Medical Center then airlifted to Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo for possible internal injuries.
