The United Way will meet on Wednesday, October 11 at 7 a.m. at Headquarters to discuss this year’s drive.

The FHS Band Boosters will host a brisket dinner this Sunday, October 1 at the Friona Junior High School Cafeteria from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and available from any Band Booster parent or at the door. For deliveries during the time of the meal, text or call orders and addresses to Jeri Lynn White at (806) 265-7737. They will be serving up delicious brisket and all the fixings.

Everyone is reminded that the Friona Junior High Fall fundraiser is underway. The students are taking orders for Apple Baking Company frozen cookie dough and cheesecakes. The final day to order is Monday, October 2. All proceeds will go into a student activity fund, which includes student incentives, rewards and field trips. A retirement party for Parmer County Tax Assessor Bobbie Pierson will be held at the County Courthouse in Farwell on Friday, September 29 from 2-4 p.m.

If you missed out on Cargill burgers and Friona Noon Lions fries at the Homecoming game you can attend the Parmer County Sheriff’s Office Night Out on Tuesday, October 3 from 6-8 p.m. in Farwell and enjoy their good cooking. Everyone in the county is invited to come out and support this event. If you have a hot sauce recipe that you consider the best in the county, you can enter it in the Salsa Contest that evening.

The Parmer County Commissioners Court will hold a special meeting on Monday, October 2 to accept Parmer County Tax Assessor Bobbie Pierson’s resignation and to swear in Awyna Sanchez as her replacement. You will be missed Bobbie!
