An early reminder of Christmas in the park. On December 1, 2018 Santa will be at the park from 3:00 pm- 5 pm. Then it will be followed by the light parade at dusk. Vendors set up around 2:30. Adopt a tree with decorating complete by December 1st. the decorations must be secured to withstand of the wind. Trees can be decorated in the middle of November.

Friona High School is having a fall show on November 4th at 2 p.m. and November 5th at 7 p.m. They will be acting Kid Londswood Midsummer-Jersey play. Tickets will be $5 for adult and $3 for student and senior citizens. Doors will be open 30 minutes prior the show.

Due to the colder weather, Movies in the Park is moving to the community center which will allow us to have a warmer space for the movies and let us show movies earlier (at 6 pm). Bring your blankets, chairs, and favorite snacks. The movies are open to the public and there is no charge. Movies will begin at 6 p.m. Please check the City of Friona’s Facebook page for movie listings.

Early voting has begun in Parmer County; Parmer County Clerk’s office October 29- Nov. 2nd from 8:30 to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., InterBank October 30 8:00 a.m.- 4 p.m.. General Election will begin on November 6th.

The Parmer County Soil and Water Conservation District is sponsoring an Essay contest, open to all Parmer County resident students 18 years old and younger. They are also hosting a Poster contest for resident students 12 years old and younger. This year the theme is “Life in Soil: Dig Deeper.” There are cash prizes of up to $100 for essay winners. St. Ann’s Catholic Church of Bovina will host their annual Turkey Dinner on Sunday, November 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the St. Ann’s Parish Hall on 3rd Street in Bovina. They will be serving turkey & dressing, creamed potatoes & gravy, green beans, homemade bread, cranberry sauce, relish plate, desserts, and tea & coffee. Donations will be $12 for adults and $6 for children under 6 years of age. Take-out plates will be available at no additional charge. A quilt made by St. Ann’s Society will be raffled off at the dinner.

The Friona United Methodist Church will host its annual All Saints’ Carnival starting at 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 28th at 301 East 8th. All children up to 5th grade are invited to wear their Halloween costumes and come have fun playing games and receiving candy. At 6 p.m., everyone is invited to enjoy a Cowboy Stew supper in the church’s Fellowship Hall. For more information, please call 250-3045.
