The 11th Annual Pudge Kendrick Memorial Golf Tournament will be July 27-28 at John Pitman Golf Course in Hereford. Signup is now open at the Pro Shop in Hereford. The afternoon flight is full but there is still room in the morning flight.

St. Teresa’s Catholic Church is hosting its 1st Chicken Fried Steak Dinner on Sunday, July 14th from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Donations are $12 for adults and $6 for children under 8 years of age. The meal will consist of chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, bread, dessert, tea, and coffee. Take-out plates will be available at no additional charge. Everyone is invited to attend and hope to see you there!!!

Those interested in applying for the Friona Public Library Director job must complete an employee application, provide a cover letter and resume before the July 26, 2019 deadline. The Friona City Pool is offering swimming lessons, water aerobics, and pool party rentals. They will be open Tuesdays- Saturday and their regular hours are 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., swimming lessons from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., and party/ water aerobics hours 6 p.m. – 7 p.m.

The 47th Annual Nazereth German Festival and Suds & Sound will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 in Nazareth, Texas. Tickets are $12 each and includes a free German Sausage Meal. This year’s Cheeseburger Festival will be an indoor/outdoor, afternoon/evening event (from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) at Reeve Lake /Friona Community Center with celebration in some shape or form for the WHOLE WEEK prior! Stay tuned for a list of events that will kick off on Monday, July 15th and end with a bang on Saturday, July 20th. On July 20, the Cheeseburger Festival will take place and will finish off with a firework display at dusk. Donations for fireworks can be made at the chamber office!

Congratulations to the Parmer County Baseball League for a great year. The Parmer County All-Stars (12 & under) advanced to the State Tournament in Littlefield on June 27-30 but could not advance.

The Parmer County All-Stars (13-15) played in the district tournament in Littlefield on the same weekend. The team won three and lost two and their season also came to an end. (see courtesy photos on page 15.)

The Friona Chieftain Football Camp will be held at Friona High School from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on July 22nd through 24th. The camp is offered for 3rd-8th grade kids. There is a fee of $20.00 to attend the camp. Brochures can be picked up at Friona High School and the Friona ISD Building.
