Ho! Ho! Home for the Holidays kicks off season

The Friona Chamber of Commerce has a busy holiday season planned for the folks of Friona.

“Ho, Ho, Home for the Holidays” will run from Monday, November 17 to Friday, December 19. Participating merchants will have canisters for customers to register when they visit. Each time you shop with a participating merchant you have the opportunity to sign up to win from $25 to $100 in Friona Bucks, which you can spend with these merchants.

Participating merchants are: A-1 Service Center, Bi-Wize Pharmacy, Blackburn Hardware, Carniceria Hernandez, Fast Stop Convenience Store, Campbell Electric, Headquarters Restaurant, Hunan’s Restaurant, Glamour & Décor, Ivy Cottage Flowers and Gifts, Kendrick Oil Farm Store, Tasty Cream, Lowe’s Supermarket, Malouf’s Fabrics, Subway of Friona and Veterinary Industries.

Local folks are encouraged to visit these local merchants and shop at home this holiday season.

The Chamber is seeking organizations, businesses, churches and citizens of Friona to decorate the city park for Christmas during the week before December 1. The decorated area will include a tree and electricity.

“Use your imagination and decorate this area in any way you wish,” said Chris Alexander, Friona Chamber of Commerce Executive Vice President.

The Chamber will once again be hosting “Christmas in the Park” on Monday, December 1. Santa will arrive at 5:30 p.m. to visit with the children. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Bring your camera to get pictures of the kids withSanta.

Trees decorated for the event will be judged on December 1 the evening of the official tree lighting. Those attending “Christmas in the Park” are encouraged to bring a 16 oz. jar of peanut butter or any size Pop Tarts for Snack Pak 4 Kids to vote for your favorite tree in the park. The tree with the most Snack Pak 4 Kids donations wins the Traveling Trophy.

Vendors that would like to participate in “Christmas in the Park” are asked to contact the Chamber office for a vendor form. A 10X10 area will be $30. Deadline for the booth and fee is 5:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24.

The Chamber will also be sponsoring a “Residential Lighting Contest”. Deadline to sign up for the contest is 3 p.m. on Friday, December 19. If you would like to enter the contest email a picture of your house (within a 5-mile radius of Friona) along with your name and address to: fedc@wtrt.net. The winners of the lighting contest will receive $100 in Friona Bucks for first place and $50 in Friona Bucks for second place.
