Wildcats beat the Chiefs 34-0

The Littlefield Wildcats came to Chieftain Field last Friday and left several Chieftains bruised and battered as they won the district match 34-0. The win sets up a battle for the district championship this week between Muleshoe and Littlefield, both 4-0 in district.

Friona travels to Childress to play for 3rd and 4th place in district. Both Friona and Childress are 2-2 in district. The tentative playoff schedule is: if Friona beats Childress they will play Brownfield Thursday November 13 at 7:30 p.m. at Dick Bivins in Amarillo. If Friona loses they will meet Shallowater at 7:30 p.m. Thursday November 13 in Plainview.

Against Littlefield Friona amassed only 127 yards of offense, 119 rushing and 8 passing compared to 404 yards for the Wildcats. Starting quarterback Dallin Woods was hit hard on Friona's first offensive series with a possible concussion and did not return to the game as a precaution. He will play at Childress according to Coach Prokop. Backup quarterback Jacob Dickson took over the offense.

In the second quarter big Chieftain lineman Edgar Guerrero suffered a dislocated shoulder and did not return to action. He also is expected to play at Childress. Running back and defensive back Justin "Slippy" Rocha cracked his collarbone and is not expected to play again this season.

Running back Luis Trejo, a 5'6" 125 lb junior, was the leading rusher with 67 yards on 14 carries. On defense Antonio Adame had 4 solo tackles and 11 assists. John Haile had 4 solo tackles and 6 assists. Mason Mireles, who was also injured in the game, had 5 solo tackles and 4 assists. He is expected to play this week.
