Mayor's Friona water update

I want to communicate this message to the citizens of Friona.
The first of February the City of Friona drained the I,000,000 gallon water tank northeast of Friona. The tank needed repairs, a new top, sand-blasting inside and out, and new paint. The project was contracted out and was to be completed in late March.
Even though the project is not yet completed, city engineers, the radio control company, and our city crew have bypassed the tank and are still using the north well field to supply the town with water.
If all goes smoothly, the tank will be back in service by May 20. We do not have a water shortage at this time but we may ask you later to slow down on your lawn watering. We will keep everyone informed about the situation in the coming weeks and want to thank everyone in advance if we need help later.
