Town Talk II

Flu season is just ahead. Did you take advantage of the flu shots at the Senior Citizen Center last week? Rhonda Wilkins said they gave 76 flu shots at the event. I got one at BSA last week. To find out why I was at BSA read my Out Here column this week.

FHS Band Brisket Dinner Oct. 23

The FHS Band Boosters will host a brisket dinner on Sunday, October 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Friona Junior High cafeteria. The menu will include brisket, barbecue sauce, beans, potato salad, hot rolls and dessert. Tickets are $10 for adults and $8 for children 10 and under and will be sold at the door. For deliveries during the time of the meal call or text orders and addresses to Jeri Lynn White at (806) 265-7737. Take out orders are available as well.

Glover, McFarland win Week 6

Two games in the Week 6 football contest were disqualified and counted as correct guesses for our players. The LSU/Florida game was postponed due to the hurricane. The San Francisco/Oakland game was discounted because it should have been San Diego/Oakland. (more...)

Chiefs lose to River Road 21-14

The Chieftains lost the district opener to the River Road Wildcats last Friday. In spite of 257 rushing yards, the Chiefs scores came on passes. (more...)

Squaw Volleyball Update

Saturday Oct 8 was game day for all three Squaw volleyball teams as they traveled to Post to take on the Lady Lopes. The C team started it off with a straight set victory. The JV team won the first set fairly easily but scored a lot of their points on the Lopes mistakes. In games two and three the JV Squaws never got on track and lost. (more...)
