Abe Welton Lane

Abe Welton Lane, 79, of Friona, died October 10, 2016 in Friona. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Friona United Methodist Church with Rev. Skip Hodges, pastor, officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Friona Cemetery by Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona.

Abe was born September 23, 1937 in Quanah, Texas to Bill Hugh and Ella Naomi Alsup Lane. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp. He married Carolyn Manning February 9, 1963 in Stanton. Abe was a former salesman for Connolly Implement Supply Company of Amarillo where he had previously been salesman of the year. He was very active in the Friona Kid’s Inc. sports programs as well as Friona Chieftain Booster Club and sports programs. He loved to play golf and spend time with his children, grandchildren and family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Lane.

Survivors include his wife Carolyn of Friona; two sons, Brian Lane and wife Lisa of Texico and Brad Lane and wife Deanna of Clovis; one daughter, Stephanie Springer and husband William of Lubbock; five grandchildren, Kayla Carson and husband Brandon Black, Brock Carson, Taylor Lane, Erin Lane and Colton Lane; one great-grandchild, Hadleigh Black; and six nephews.
