Squaw Volleyball Update

Tuesday September 13 the Squaws hosted the Texico Wolverines. In the C game the Squaws started slow and Texico took advantage and won 25-15. Game two was close because the Squaws played much better and pulled out a 25-22 win. The ladies lost game three 18-25.

The JV was the bright light of the night as they beat Texico 25-21, 25-20. Even though the ladies missed several serves and swings at the net they were significantly better than the Wolverines and were never in danger of losing the match.

In the varsity match the Squaws started off slow and did not recover. Texico looked like the number one ranked 3A team in New Mexico and streaked to a 25-13 win. The Squaws woke up in game two and played much better but still made too many unforced errors. When the game got tight the Squaws made mistakes and the Wolverines did not. Texico took a two game lead with a 25-22 win.

Game three was different as the Squaws cut down on the errors and battled back to win 25-17. It was good that we showed some fight and came back to win game three, especially when we had not been playing well. In game four the Squaws dug themselves a hole but battled back to get close before falling 25-19.

On the bright side of the loss I think that most everyone did not play even close to their best match and we hung in there and played a good team close.

The varsity girls travel to Plainview Christian for a Saturday 3:00 p.m. match.
