Christmas in the Park/Lighted Parade Dec. 4

Santa Claus is coming to town Monday, December 4 and Friona is going to be ready with lights and little children.

The Friona Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture is encouraging individuals, church groups, civic groups, and organizations to ADOPT A TREE to help make the City Park shine during the Christmas in the Park on Monday, December 4. Stop by the Chamber Office at 621 Main Street to pick a tree or call (806) 250-3491. Trees must be decorated before Monday, December 4. Prizes will be given for the best decorated tree. Bring canned goods to vote for your favorite tree.

Santa’s arrival

Santa will arrive accompanied by Miss Friona Brooklynne Johnston and Little Miss Friona Abigail Guerra at the City Park at 4:30 p.m. for Christmas in the Park. He will be listening to all the children’s Christmas wishes until the Christmas Parade of Lights begins. Miss Friona and Little Miss Friona will be handing out candy canes and helping Santa.

Vendors are encouraged to set up in the park during the event. Contact the Chamber for more vendor information.

Christmas Parade of Lights

The Christmas Parade of Lights will begin at dusk or 6:30 p.m. with the line-up on Euclid Street between the Elementary and Primary schools at 5:30 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Friona Chamber and the Parmer County Sheriff’s Office. This is a free event.

Deadline for entry is Friday, December 1, 2017. Entry forms are available from the Parmer County Sheriff’s Office, 300 4th Street in Farwell or at the Chamber office.

Catagories for the parade are commercial float: organizational float; antique auto; antique tractor; horse/pony; walking units; or truck/trailer. All entries must be lighted. No political campaigning will be allowed. Prizes will be given to the winners.
