I had a request this week to find out about having the State of Texas install Duck Crossing signs on north Highway 214. Apparently, a number of ducks and their ducklings have been struck and killed by vehicles on this road. In Clovis, New Mexico, if a duck is struck in the Duck Crossing it is a fineable offense. Star Thanksgiving schedule

Due to the Thanksgiving holiday next week, the Friona Star’s regular news and advertising deadlines have been moved up. News and advertising should be in by Monday, November 20 at 5 p.m. The Star office will be closed next Thursday and Friday.

Davila named new Friona City Manager

The Friona City Council got a surprise from the Friona Volunteer Fire Department before their regular meeting on Monday, November 13. The Fire Department stopped by with their newest fire truck, a 2004 E-One Pumper, which was recently purchase for $42,000 from the escrow money that was budgeted by the City of Friona. (more...)
