It is crunch time at the Thursday, November 9 Friona Community Blood Drive. They are looking to bring in a record-breaking 80 donations. The blood drive begins at noon and goes until 7 p.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall at 1500 Cleveland. Donors will receive a Blaze Coffee Accident Awareness Month t-shirt and a Friona Blood Drive long sleeve shirt. The Friona Noon Lions will be dishing up Mexican Pile-on and cobbler to all that present to donate.

Make plans to attend the blood drive and help them break the record.

The FHS Thespians will present Disney’s “The Little Mermaid, Jr.” Saturday, November 18 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, November 19 at 4 p.m. at the FHS Auditorium. Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for students and children.

St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bovina will be serving up Thanksgiving Dinner on this Sunday, November 5 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come over to Bovina and enjoy turkey & dressing, creamed potatoes & gravy, green beans, homemade bread, cranberry sauce, relish plate, desserts, tea and coffee for $12 for adults and $6 for children under 6. They will have take-out orders at no additional charge. While you are there purchase a raffle ticket for a quilt made by the St. Ann’s Society.

Caregivers are encouraged to attend the Caregiver Coffee Break on Friday, November 3 at the First National Bank Community Room. The break begins at 9:30 a.m. with donuts and coffee followed by a meeting at 10 a.m. For more information contact Bluebonnet Home Health and Hospice at (806) 247-0057.

If you haven’t donated to the Friona 4-H Food Drive the last day is this Friday, November 3. Boxes are located at Friona InterBank, Friona First National Bank, all Friona ISD schools and several local churches.

The Friona Chieftain and Squaw Booster Club will host a Pizza party for the Friona Junior High athletes after the 8th grade game on Thursday, November 9.

If you love to tailgate, November 10th is your day. The Friona Chieftain and Squaw Booster Club will be having a tailgate to congratulate the football, volleyball and cross country teams. The tailgate begins at 5:30 p.m. at Chieftain Field. They will be serving sausage wraps, chips and a drink for donations only.

Senior night for football, cross country, cheerleading and band will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Happy 65th Anniversary to Kenneth and Thelma Watkins on Tuesday, November 7. Kenneth and Thelma lived in Friona for many years. They now live in Rio Communities, part of Belen, NM, some 30 miles south of Albuquerque. Thank you Harry (Butch) Watkins for sending us this information.
