Hortencia Aguillon Lara

Hortencia Aguillon Lara, 84, of Bovina passed away February 6, 2018 in New Mexico. Prayer Services will be held 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the XIT Building in Bovina with a Celebration of Life Service set for 1:00 p.m. on Monday, February 12, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Bovina with Pastor Sergio Vernal of Plainview, officiating. Burial following in the Bovina Cemetery in Bovina by Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona.

Mrs. Lara was born May 6, 1933 in Mexico to Juanito and Maria Peña Aguillon. She married her love, Rosendo Lara, on the day of love, February 14, 1961. This Godly couple served The Church of God of the First Born and community of Bovina for many years with humble hearts.

She is preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Amalia Aguillon, and three brothers, Pablo Aguillon, Umberto Aguillon, and Gonzalo Aguillon.

Continuing the legacy are 3 daughters: Sylvia Medrano of Dimmitt, Irma Rocha and Anna DeLaCruz, both of Bovina, 6 sons: Jessie Lara and Noe Lara of Dimmitt, Rosendo Lara Jr, Tony Lara, and Esequiel Lara, all of Bovina, and Robert Lara of Lamesa, one brother, Francisco Aguillon, and one sister, Josefine Aguillon of Mexico, 43 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren.

Rosendo Silva Lara

Rosendo Silva Lara, 81, of Bovina passed away February 6, 2018 in New Mexico. Mr. Lara was born April 12, 1936 in Mexico to Guadalupe and Maria Rosario Silva Lara. He married his love, Hortencia Aguillon, on the day of love, February 14, 1961. This Godly couple served The Church of God of the First Born and community of Bovina for many years with humble hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Mario Lara, and two sisters, Teresa Lara and Ester Lara.

Betty J. Freeman

Funeral Service for Betty J. Freeman, 85, a long-time Hereford resident will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Central Church of Christ, with John Henley, minister, officiating. At Mrs. Freeman’s request, her body is being donated to science and there will be no viewing. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mrs. Freeman passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2018 in Hereford, Texas.

Betty J. Hadley was born September 25, 1932 in Friona, Texas to Albertis H. and Ida Cleo Cannon Hadley. She attended Friona schools and graduated in 1950. Mrs. Freeman was a Christian and a very active member of Central Church of Christ, and was a devoted servant to all. Betty volunteered at Hereford Senior Citizen Center and was active in the YMCA. She will be remembered by her family for fixing an awesome roast and rum cake, but most of all as an excellent mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband L.R. “Butch” Freeman; one brother; and four sisters.

She is survived by her three sons, Gary Pope and wife Frances of Muleshoe, Mike Pope and wife Bonnie of Friona, and Terry Lynn Pope of Lake Tapps, WA; one sister, Carrol Watson of Hico, TX; eight grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family suggests Memorials in Mrs. Freeman’s name be made to Hereford Senior Citizens Center, 426 Ranger St., Hereford, Texas 79045.
