Good Luck to the Squaws 4x400m Relay Team at State!

4x400m team heads to Austin

The 4x400m Relay Team of Jodie Denton, Anay Chihuahua, Emma Rector, and Bailey Pope will compete in the AAA State Track & Field Championships at 10:25 p.m. this Friday night at Mike A. Meyers Stadium in Austin. Ahahi Gonzalez and Rebecca Schlenker are also on the team as alternates. (more...)

Town Talk

Attention parents of graduating seniors! We have handed out forms for the high school seniors to fill out for our special graduation edition of the newspaper coming up very quickly. We’ve set the deadline for these forms to be turned in to the high school office no later than May 10, so be sure to get yours in so that everyone may be included! Voters Pass School Bond

Darrin Gilley and Jeri Lynn White elected to Board of Trustees

The voting is over and the results are in. Voters elected two School Board Trustees and decided the fate of the $19 million school bond measure in last Saturday’s election. A total of 510 persons voted in the election and of those 239 voted early. (more...)

AgTexas honors AgYouth

The 4th Annual AgYouth Banquet, hosted by AgTexas Farm Credit, was held Monday night in downtown Amarillo at the Embassy Suites by Hilton. The event highlights the thirty-six outstanding 4-H and FFA high school seniors from the Texas Panhandle who were honored during the AgYouth of the Month program which ran from November 2018 through April 2019. Friona students who were chosen included Angel Valencia, Gabbi Douglas, and Samuel Frye. Each AgYouth of the Month winner received a certificate and gift card. Also, nine $1,000 college scholarships were awarded via a random drawing. Over 100 people attended the event which included students, parents, and 4-H & FFA advisors. (more...)

Hi-Pro to host 5th Annual Banquet

Hi-Pro Feeds will host its 5th Annual “Hi-Pro Feeds The Future” benefit on Saturday, May 18th. Festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Country Rose located south of Summerfield at 570 FM 1057. The Dinner plus Live & Silent Auction fundraiser benefits the Snack Pak 4Kids programs in Muleshoe, Friona, Texico, Farwell and the Beef & Dairy Fund. Event sponsors include Nutra Blend, Hi-Pro Feeds, and Snack Pak 4Kids. (more...)
