A couple of news reports said Super Bowl 50 tickets were averaging over $5,000. That is the resale price. Face value of tickets is $850 to $1800 for general admission and $3,000 for club seats. Lots of new big screen TVs being sold also. Think I will stay home and watch it and take a nap.

Friona ISD coaches and officials are anxious to hear the new UIL district realignment that will be revealed Monday February 1. We will have coaches present in Amarillo and Lubbock for the announcement. There was some speculation Friona could end up in an 8 team district. They need to be both places in case most of our district opponents are either north or south. We should have details in next week's Star.

Volleyball girls are selling tickets to win a Yeti Tank or two 60-lb packages of hamburger meat. There will be three winners. Also next Friday February 5 during the Muleshoe basketball games they are selling a brisket sandwich, chips, drink, homemade dessert and one raffle ticket for $10.00. It is all to raise money for summer volleyball camp. I'll be having a brisket deal Friday. Hope you will too.

Mandie Hamilton and the Five Star Bistro have moved out to the Hub Café. That leaves the Bistro space open for the Donut Shop that has been "coming soon" for several months. Mandie's mom Carmen Putman says they have purchased a food truck and will be available around town soon. Another food truck was spotted serving along Highway 60 over the weekend.

Fast Stop will have a makeover soon and it will be renamed Chisum's. Plans are to remodel the grill and the c-store side. Different menu planned for the grill. I told manager Esperanza Herrera I will still call it Fast Stop. She said that is okay because some still call it Town & Country. This same remodel was completed at the Dimmitt Fast Stop and now they are coming over here.

Our County Emergency Coordinator John Gurley furnished the following statement for farmers and volunteers that worked during the Goliath snow storm: "During the recent blizzard the county and cities in the county received a great deal of much needed help digging people out and clearing roads. If you helped please contact me with names and hours spent along with any personal equipment that was used. This will assist the county's effort to receive any financial benefit from FEMA." It has been a good week. Thanks to my Managing Editor Dana Jameson for spending hours covering the Parmer County Junior Livestock Show. I think she did a great job don't you? We don't always work hard here but when we do we do. See you next time. Until then!
