Squaw Volleyball Update

On Saturday the Squaws volleyball teams hosted the Tulia Lady Hornets. The Squaws swept the Hornets in straight sets for all three teams.

The C team dominated Tulia with a 25-5, 25-10 win. The JV also won in straight sets 25-14, 25-21. The JV continues to play well and have improved steadily throughout the season. The back row play of Josselyn Castillo, Megan Stone, and Amelia Sandoval kept the ball in position for Emma Rector to set up the hitters. The JV is 16-5 for the season.

The varsity kept up the straight set sweep os the Hornets with a 25-7, 25-7, 25-10 win. Kim DeWit had 16 kills, Paige Upton 7, Bailey Pope 5, Erica Barrera 2 and Mariah Trevino 2. Blocks, DeWit 8, Barrera 2, Trevino 2, and Barnett 1. Digs, Taylor Stallings 8, Sabrina Barraza , Bailey Pope 2, and Gaby Douglas 2. Serving aces, Barnett 2, Douglas 2, DeWit 2, Stallings, Upton, and Pope one each.

Tuesday night all three teams traveled to Olton to take on the Fillies. Once again all three teams beat Olton in straight sets for the sweep. The C team started off with a 25-10, 25-7 victory. Good serving put the Fillies on the defensive for most of the match.

The JV scored a knockout with a 25-13, 25-13 win. The ladies continued to pass well and serve consistent to put pressure on the Fillies. The JV continues to improve and is starting to become a multiple threat offensive team.

The varsity continued the sweep of the Fillies with a 25-8, 25-5, 25-15 win. The Squaws used good passing and serving to put pressure on the Fillies. The Squaws are 25-7 on the season and start district Tuesday against Dimmitt.
