Friona Elementary has joined the effort to help with the victims of Hurricane Harvey. For five days they have collected $1,077.22. That money will be used to help buy school supplies for the students in the affected areas.

“We are proud that the students and staff of Friona Elementary opened their hearts and their piggy banks to lend a helping hand,” stated Loy McLellan, Friona Elementary Counselor.

The students raised $362.95 on August 31; $373.79 on September 1; $54.83 on September 6; $59.27 on September 7; and $226.38 on September 8. The donations came in the form of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, $1 bills, $5 bills, $10 bills, $20 bills, $100 bills, and a gold dollar. Additional donations were six foreign coins, one game/store token, one tiny screw and one tattoo.

Congratulations to these students and staff members for showing the Texas spirit.
