Johnston, Guerra crowned Miss, Little Miss

For One Night Only-Friday, September 8-magic filled the air as sixteen Miss Friona and eleven Little Miss Friona contestants took to the stage at the Friona High School auditorium to show their poise, elegance and talents.

Contestants were interviewed by emcee Ali Allison, of Newschannel 10 in Amarillo, followed by modeling of casual and eveningwear.

Miss Friona contestants showed their impressive talents, which included lip-syncing, playing the piano, comedy, dancing and singing.

Brooklynne Johnston, 17-year-old daughter of Bryan and Allison Johnston, was named 2017 Miss Friona and crowned by 2016 Miss Friona Sydney Frye . She was sponsored by Friona InterBank. She performed “The Mom Song” for her talent. Brooklynne received a $1,000 scholarship. She was also earned a scholarship for evening gown.

Erica Barrera, daughter of Joy Davila and Eric Barrera, was named Miss Congeniality and 1st runner-up. Erica recited the FFA Creed. She received a $700 scholarship for 1st runner-up. She also received recognition for her interview. She was sponsored by Chico’s Welding & Construction.

Graci Stallings, 16-year-old daughter of Tommy and Trista Stallings, was the 2nd runner-up and was recognized for her talent. She is sponsored Chieftain Sports and Fitness.

Rickie Lee Castillo, 16-year-old daughter of Santiago and Claudia Serna, was the 3rd runner-up. She was sponsored by Serna Repairs.

Kessly Salinas, 16-year-old daughter of Aaron and Rufina Salinas, was the 4th runner-up. She was sponsored by Bi-Wize Pharmacy.

Abigail Guerra, sponsored by First National Bank, was named 2017 Little Miss Friona and crowned by 2016 Little Miss Friona Aylen Moreno. First runner-up was Sophia San Miguel, sponsored by Tasty Cream, and second runner-up was Ella Rector, sponsored by Hi-Pro Feeds.

Abigail is the 5-year-old daughter of Noel and Jessica Guerra. Sophia is the 5-year-old daughter of Jesus and Gracie San Miguel. Ella is the 5-year-old daughter of Jason and Karla Rector.

Scholarships were provided by donations from the following: Parmer Medical Center, Parmer County Implement, A-1 Service Center, Hi-Pro Feeds, Kendrick Oil, Co., Parmer County Farm Bureau, Diamond Kat Designs, Wilbur Ellis, Co., Legacy Pump and Irrigation, Xcel Energy, Bi-Wize Pharmacy, Farmer’s Co-op Gin, K-3 Towing, Del Rio Dairy, Ivy Cottage Flowers & Gifts: Kip and Misty Frye.
